How to use it
- Replace the examples with your measurements or exact product coverage.
- Choose the unit beside each input. Changing the unit converts the existing value.
- Choose any allowance deliberately, calculate, and check the purchase units.
Formula
Volume = L × W × depth. Mass = allowance-adjusted volume × supplied bulk density.
Worked example
5 × 4 × 0.1 m with 10% extra = 2.2 m³. At 1,600 kg/m³, mass = 3,520 kg.
Common mistakes and limits
Density is an illustrative starting value. Moisture and compaction change quantities; ask your supplier.
Do not add allowance twice. Example coverage, density and prices are illustrative, not a specification for your project.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn cubic metres into tonnes without a density?
No. Use the bulk density for the supplied aggregate and its stated condition.
Does the tool account for compaction?
Only through the allowance and density you choose. It does not predict compaction from material type.
Are my measurements sent to a server?
These calculations run in your browser. This calculator does not send the input values to our server. Normal page requests can still appear in hosting logs.
